Dosage form :

Injection 1000 mg Vial IV, IM.

Indication :

Treatment of lower respiratory tract infection, skin/skin structure
infections, bone and joint infections, intra-abdominal and urinary tract
infections, sepsis and meningitis due to susceptible organisms.

Dosage :

Infants and children: IM, IV: 50-100 mg/kg/day in 1-2 divided
doses, max dose: 4 gm/day [meningitis]; 2 gm/day [non-meningeal

Adults: 1-2 gm every 12-24 hours;

Maximum dose: 2 gm every 12 hours for treatment of meningitis.
Uncomplicated gonorrhea: I.M.: 250 mg as a single dose.
Surgical prophylaxis: 1 gm 30 minutes to 2 hours before surgery.

Warning / precaution :

Adverse reactions :

Rash, diarrhea, eosinophilia, thrombocytosis, leukopenia, pain at site
of injection.
